Canada Manufacturing Sales Fall Less Than Expected in March

In March 2025, Canada's manufacturing sales experienced a month-over-month decline of 1.4%, totaling CAD 71.9 billion. This decrease was slightly lower than the anticipated 1.9% drop. Of the twenty-one industries assessed, thirteen saw sales reductions, with primary metal products experiencing a significant decline of 6.5% and petroleum and coal products falling by 4.2%. Conversely, the sales of furniture and related products saw a substantial increase of 11.9%. On a regional level, eight provinces reported decreases in sales, with Ontario and Quebec being the most affected, showing reductions of 1.0% and 1.6%, respectively. However, on an annual comparison, national manufacturing sales actually increased by 1.9%.
