Sri Lanka Services PMI Eases in April

In April 2025, Sri Lanka's Services PMI experienced a deceleration, registering at 60.6 compared to March's 69.8. This indicates a slower but continued expansion of services activity. Although the growth in new businesses has reduced, it remains solidly in expansion territory, recording 56.7 against 68.3 in the previous month. This growth was primarily bolstered by enhancements in financial services and the wholesale and retail trade sectors. Employment figures saw an uptick, reaching 55.0 from 61.9, fueled by fresh recruitment across numerous firms. Meanwhile, the backlog of work continued its downward trend, moving from 48.4 to 47.5. On a positive note, there was an improvement in expectations for future activity, rising from 73.0 to 75.8.
