Austria Inflation Rate Confirmed at 3.1%

In April 2025, Austria's annual inflation rate increased to 3.1%, up from 2.9% the previous month, consistent with earlier projections. A notable acceleration in price growth was observed in the education sector, which rose to 5% from 2.3% in March, as well as in miscellaneous goods and services, climbing to 5% from a prior 4.7%. However, prices for furnishings, household equipment and maintenance remained stable at 5.2%, and the transport sector stayed unchanged at 4.8%. A slight easing was seen in healthcare costs, which fell by 0.8%, improving from a 0.9% drop. Meanwhile, inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages slightly decreased to 2.9% from 3.1%, and there was a more significant decline in alcoholic beverages and tobacco, now at 2.6% from 3.7%. Housing and utilities experienced a decrease in costs, falling to -0.7% from a previous increase of 0.2%, and recreation and culture saw a further reduction, down by 6% compared to 5.6%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.2% in April, maintaining the same growth rate as observed in the previous month.
