Hong Kong's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate slightly increased to 3.4% over the three months ending in April 2025, up from 3.2% in the prior period, marking the highest rate in more than two years. The count of unemployed individuals rose by approximately 6,600 compared to the previous month, reaching 124,900—the highest number since November 2022—while employment decreased by 15,600, totaling 3.68 million. Unemployment rates climbed in the construction, accommodation services, food and beverage service activities, and financing sectors, but decreased within the information and communications, insurance, and arts, entertainment, and recreation sectors. Additionally, the youth unemployment rate (for job hunters aged 20–29) rose to 6.5% from 6.1% in the earlier period. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate slightly declined to 56.8% from 56.9% in the previous period.
