Belgium Consumer Morale Improves in May

Belgium's consumer confidence indicator improved in May 2025, climbing to -7 from -14 in April, reflecting the most optimistic sentiment recorded in three months. The main factors contributing to this shift were a less pessimistic view regarding personal financial situations, which improved to -3 compared to -8 in April, and a more positive outlook on the general economic situation, which rose to -30 from -44. Additionally, concerns about increasing unemployment significantly diminished, with the related index falling to 13 from 21. Meanwhile, there was a modest increase in the propensity to save, up slightly to 19 from 17.
