US Crude Oil Inventories Unexpectedly Rise: EIA

In the week ending May 16, 2025, crude oil inventories in the United States increased by 1.328 million barrels, contrary to market predictions of a 1.85 million barrel decline, as reported by the EIA Petroleum Status Report. Meanwhile, stockpiles at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub fell by 457,000 barrels. In terms of refined fuels, gasoline inventories rose by 816,000 barrels, and distillate fuel stocks climbed by 579,000 barrels.
