Ibovespa Closes Near Record

The Ibovespa index rose by 1% on Tuesday, closing at 139,541, after briefly reaching an unprecedented high of 140,382 during the session. This uptick was propelled by declining inflation rates and a strong performance in the domestic bond market. The IPCA-15, a widely followed index, decelerated from 5.49% to 5.40%, marking its best performance this year due to falling prices in food, clothing, and hygiene sectors.

Petrobras witnessed a 0.8% increase following its announcement to issue up to BRL 3 billion in incentivized debentures, with an indication of potential cuts in refinery prices if the downward trend in oil prices persists. CEO Magda Chambriard underscored the strategic importance of Braskem to the company’s operations. Meanwhile, Carrefour Brasil saw significant gains after revealing its plans to delist from B3 and distribute European shares to its investors. Additionally, companies like Revee, Infracommerce, LPS Brasil, Light, and Itaú also experienced positive closings.
