Montenegro Trade Deficit Narrows in April

In April 2025, Montenegro saw its trade deficit reduce to EUR 317.0 million, a decrease from the EUR 341.6 million recorded in the same month of the previous year. Export figures demonstrated a year-on-year decline of 6.3%, totaling EUR 50.7 million, while imports experienced a larger fall of 7.1%, amounting to EUR 367.6 million. Analyzing the period from January to April 2025, exports diminished by 2% compared to the same timeframe from the prior year, reaching EUR 200.8 million. This decline was significantly influenced by reduced sales in categories such as manufactured goods classified chiefly by material (-44.6%), beverages and tobacco (-36.9%), machinery and transport equipment (-28.3%), and animal oils and fats (-16.1%). Conversely, imports increased by 3.6%, rising to EUR 1,305.2 million. This growth in imports was predominantly propelled by higher acquisitions of animal oils and fats (11.5%), beverages and tobacco (7.9%), food and live animals (6.1%), mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials (5.5%), as well as miscellaneous manufactured articles (5.2%).
