US Consumer Spending Rises Modestly in April

In April 2025, personal consumption expenditures (PCE) in the United States saw a 0.2% increase compared to the previous month. This marked a slowdown from the 0.7% rise recorded in March and met market expectations. The total spending grew by $47.8 billion, with the most significant contribution coming from a $55.8 billion (0.4%) boost in services expenditures. Conversely, spending on goods decreased by $8.0 billion (-0.1%), primarily a result of reduced demand for durable goods.
