Peru Inflation Rate at 4-Month High

In May 2025, the inflation rate in Lima, Peru's capital, increased to 1.69% from 1.65% recorded in April. This represents the highest level since January, driven by rising prices in several categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages experienced an increase (1.35% compared to 0.97% in April), recreation and culture saw a slight rise (2.92% compared to 2.90%), restaurants and hotels noted a growth (2.79% compared to 2.73%), and miscellaneous goods and services also went up (2.66% compared to 2.57%). Conversely, on a month-to-month basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.06% in May, a reversal from the 0.32% increase observed the previous month.
