DAX Ends at 1-Week High

Frankfurt’s DAX Index experienced a positive uptick, closing approximately 0.7% higher at one-week peaks of 24,083 on Tuesday. This rebound followed previous declines and saw the DAX outperforming other regional indices. Investor sentiment saw a lift as weaker-than-anticipated Eurozone inflation figures reinforced the likelihood of a 25 basis point rate cut by the European Central Bank later this week. However, these gains were somewhat restrained due to renewed apprehensions concerning global economic growth. This anxiety was fueled by the OECD’s revised, less optimistic economic forecast, as well as increasing political instability in the Netherlands following the collapse of its ruling coalition. Persistent global trade tensions further weighed on investor confidence. Notable performers among individual stocks included Airbus, which rose by 2.3%, Siemens Energy with a 2% increase, SAP also up by 2%, and BMW along with Vonovia each climbing 1.9%. Infineon Technologies also saw a rise of 1.6%.
