In May 2025, preliminary estimates indicated that the Czech Republic's annual inflation rate increased to 2.4%, up from 1.8% in April. This uptick was primarily attributed to rising expenses in several categories: services climbed to 4.9% from 4.7% the previous month, while food, alcohol, and tobacco surged to 4.8% from 3.3%. Additionally, the cost of goods rose to 0.9% from 0.2%. Conversely, energy costs continued to decline, though at a slower rate, at -6.2% compared to -6.3% in April. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices increased by 0.5%, marking the highest rise in four months and a reversal from the 0.1% decrease observed in April.
