In May 2025, Estonia's annual inflation rate remained steady at 4.5%, consistent with the rate observed in April. The primary contributor to this stability was a rise in transport costs, which increased by 6.2%, up from 5% the previous month. This uptick was influenced by the car tax implemented at the beginning of the year and heightened expenses associated with passenger transportation. Additionally, there were continued cost increases in sectors such as communication (1.6%, rising from 0.4%), recreation and entertainment (4.9% from 4.6%), as well as in hotels, cafes, and restaurants (4.9% from 4.4%). Conversely, there was a moderation in inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages (down to 7.1% from 7.4%), housing (reduced to 2.1% from 3.1%), and health (decreased to 9.9% from 11%). Notably, the inflation rate for clothing and footwear remained unchanged at -4.5%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices experienced a modest increase of 0.1% in May, a slowdown from the 1% growth seen in the previous period.
