Danish Current Account Surplus Largest in 6 Months

In April 2025, Denmark experienced a notable increase in its seasonally adjusted current account surplus, reaching DKK 40.7 billion, up from DKK 33.7 billion in March. This represents the largest surplus since October of the previous year. The growth was primarily driven by an increase in the goods account surplus, which rose to DKK 33.4 billion from DKK 26.2 billion, thanks to a 7% boost in exports. Meanwhile, the services account surplus improved significantly to DKK 4.4 billion from just DKK 0.2 billion. However, there was a narrowing in the primary income surplus, which decreased to DKK 5.8 billion from DKK 10.1 billion. Additionally, the secondary income deficit slightly expanded to DKK 2.9 billion from DKK 2.8 billion in the previous month.
