DAX Ends on Negative Note

On Monday, Frankfurt's DAX index experienced a decline of approximately 0.5%, settling at 24,174, underperforming compared to most other regional markets. Investor sentiment remained subdued as market participants awaited key updates from the ongoing US-China trade discussions, which are set to commence in London today. These discussions aim to address persistent trade conflicts that have expanded beyond tariffs to encompass export controls on crucial goods and components, impacting global supply chains. Concurrently, the markets are gearing up for a significant influx of inflation data from the US, alongside the release of final Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures from Germany, France, Spain, and Italy. These data releases are anticipated to influence expectations regarding future central bank actions. Among the individual stocks, Siemens Energy and SAP saw the most significant declines, dropping by 2.9% and 1.7%, respectively. Other notable decreases were observed in Beiersdorf, Allianz, Deutsche Börse, Hannover Rück, and Deutsche Telekom, with losses ranging from 0.9% to 1.3%. Meanwhile, defense stocks continued to experience profit-taking.
