UK Employment Growth Hits 4-Month Low

In the three months leading up to April 2025, the United Kingdom saw an increase of 89,000 in its employed population. This follows an earlier rise of 112,000, marking the smallest employment gain thus far this year, primarily attributed to a decrease in the number of full-time self-employed individuals. Meanwhile, there was growth in both part-time and full-time employee numbers. On a year-over-year basis, employment soared by 667,000, bolstered by increases in both full-time and part-time positions. Concurrently, the employment rate for those aged 16 to 64 experienced a marginal uptick of 0.1 percentage points, reaching 75.1%.
