In May 2025, Switzerland's consumer confidence index slightly improved, reaching -37 from -38 in May of the previous year, surpassing market expectations which had anticipated it to remain at -38. Most of the components within the index showed progress when compared to the previous year: the assessment of past financial situations improved, climbing to -45 from -58; the expected financial situation index also saw an uptick, moving to -30 from -36; and the index concerning the timing of major purchases rose to -28 from -37.6. However, expectations regarding the economic development outlook took a downturn, dropping further to -42.9 from -21.1 in May 2024.
