Austria Industrial Output at Over 2-Year High

In April 2025, Austria's industrial production saw a 3.7% year-on-year increase, up from a revised 1.2% rise recorded in March. This represents the highest level of industrial activity since February 2023. The production of intermediate goods grew at a faster pace, increasing by 4.1% compared to 2.9% in March. There was also a noticeable rebound in the output of capital goods, which rose by 5.0% following a previous decline of 1.9%, and energy production, which increased by 4.7% after a 1.2% drop. Meanwhile, the contraction in consumer durables eased, with a decrease of 14.7% compared to the previous 19.6% decline. However, there was a slowdown in the growth of consumer non-durables, which increased by 6.0% after a 9.5% rise in March. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production in Austria rose by 2.1% in April 2025, accelerating from a revised 0.6% gain in the previous month.
