Baltic Dry Index Rebounds

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index surged by approximately 3.5% on Wednesday, reaching its highest level since November 18, at 1,738 points. This increase followed a modest decline the previous day and was attributed to gains across all vessel segments. The capesize index, which is predominantly used for transporting 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, climbed 4.7%, reaching a near seven-month peak of 3,096 points. Meanwhile, the panamax index, responsible for carrying 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose by 2.9% to its highest point since May 12, at 1,337 points. Additionally, the supramax index, representing smaller vessels, increased by 3 points to 922, ending a streak of six consecutive sessions of declines.
