Finnish Inflation Steady at 0.5% for 3rd Straight Month

In May 2025, Finland's annual inflation rate remained steady at 0.5%, consistent with the previous three months and marking the lowest rate since December 2020. Notable increases in prices were observed in several categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 2.7%, up from 2.3% in April; healthcare rose by 8.9%, compared to 8.1%; communication services went up by 3.1%, from 2.6%; recreation and culture climbed to 2.3% from 2.1%; and restaurant and hotel prices increased to 1.9% from 1.7%. Clothing and footwear costs experienced a rebound, rising slightly by 0.2% after a previous decline of 0.2%. Conversely, there was a deceleration in price growth for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, which rose by 4.2% compared to 4.3%, and for furnishings and household maintenance, which grew by 1% down from 1.3%. Additionally, prices continued to fall for housing (-2.7% compared to -2.6%), miscellaneous goods and services (-0.9% versus -0.3%), and transport (-0.7% against -0.2%). On a month-over-month basis, consumer prices dipped by 0.1%, following a stagnant reading the month before.
