Poland Trade Balance Remains in Deficit for 12th Month

In April 2025, Poland experienced a trade deficit of €941 million, a significant shift from the €745 million surplus it recorded in the same month the previous year. This marks the 12th month in a row that the country has faced a trade deficit. The increase in imports by 3.5%, reaching €29.01 billion, suggests a gradual economic recovery and a strong demand for consumer goods, particularly semi-durable and non-durable items, as well as agricultural products. Conversely, exports fell by 2.4% to €28.07 billion, primarily due to worsening conditions in the European automotive sector and growing competition within EU markets. The decline in foreign sales of investment goods, consumer products, and equipment has notably affected the overall export performance.
