In April 2025, Senegal's industrial production, excluding cotton ginning, experienced a notable year-on-year growth of 24.9%, up from a 19.7% increase in March. This represents the most robust expansion in three months, primarily driven by a significant surge in output from the extractive industries, which saw an 82.7% increase. The manufacturing sector also contributed, albeit to a lesser extent, with a 4.1% rise. Within the manufacturing industries, there was remarkable growth in the production of refined petroleum and coking products, which skyrocketed by 260.5%. Additionally, production in paper, cardboard, printing, and the reproduction of records increased by 140.5%, while chemical, pharmaceutical, rubber, and plastic products grew by 132.5%. Overall, industrial activity in the first four months of the year increased by 23.5% compared to the same period in the previous year.
