In April 2025, Portugal achieved a current account surplus of EUR 190.6 million, a significant improvement compared to the EUR 93.6 million deficit from the same month the previous year. This positive shift was largely driven by a EUR 416 million increase in the services surplus, attributed primarily to enhanced revenues from travel services, which saw a boost of EUR 130 million, and transport services, which increased by EUR 83 million. Additionally, the primary income deficit experienced a narrowing by EUR 107 million, largely due to an uptick in EU subsidies amounting to EUR 72 million. Conversely, the goods deficit expanded to EUR 288 million as exports decreased by EUR 460 million, a decline that outstripped the reduction in imports, which fell by EUR 173 million.
