In May 2025, Austria experienced a notable 0.6% year-on-year decline in producer prices, a further drop from the 0.2% reduction seen in April. This decrease was primarily driven by a reduction in energy prices, which fell by 2.9%, and a 1% drop in the prices of intermediate goods. Conversely, there was an increase in the costs of consumer goods, which rose by 2.5%, as well as a 1.1% rise in capital goods. On a month-to-month basis, the Producer Price Index (PPI) showed a 0.3% decrease, a slower decline compared to the 0.9% drop recorded in the previous month.
