Croatia Industrial Output Eases to 6-Month Low

Croatia's industrial production experienced a 1.7% year-on-year increase in May 2025, following a robust 6.5% growth in April, the strongest in three months. This latest figure marks the slowest expansion in industrial activity since the decline witnessed in November 2024. The slowdown is largely attributed to reduced output in manufacturing, which grew by 4.9% compared to 7.3% in April. Notable declines were observed in the production of tobacco products, basic metals, and wearing apparel. Additionally, there was a significant decrease in the output of electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply, which plummeted by 11.9% following a previous surge of 9.5%. Conversely, the output for mining and quarrying remained stable, although it endured a decline of 3.3%. Adjusted for seasonal variations, industrial production contracted by 2.9% in May 2025, overturning a 2.5% increase recorded in the prior month.
