In May 2025, Greece experienced an uptick in its annual producer inflation rate, which increased to 2% from 0.5% in April. This rise was largely attributed to a more pronounced escalation in energy costs, which surged by 3%, following a 1.4% increase in the previous month. This reflects mounting input expenses for industries that rely heavily on energy. Conversely, the costs for non-durable consumer goods saw stabilization, after recording a 0.6% decrease in the earlier period. There was a slowdown in price growth for intermediate goods, which moved to 2.2% from 2.5%, capital goods, which decelerated to 2.9% from 3.1%, and durable consumer goods, which reduced to 4.1% from 4.6%. On a month-to-month basis, producer prices dropped by 2.9% in May, marking a steeper decline from the 1.2% fall recorded in April.
