India Industrial Production Slows Further

In May 2025, India's industrial production saw an annual increase of 1.2%, a deceleration from the revised 2.6% rise reported in the previous month and falling short of the market's forecasted 2.4% growth rate. This represents the slowest rate of industrial growth since August 2024. Specifically, manufacturing production grew by 2.6% year-over-year, a reduction from the previous month's 3.1% growth. Meanwhile, electricity output experienced a significant contraction of 5.8%, a stark contrast to the 1.7% growth observed in the prior month. In the mining sector, output declined by 0.1%, following a 0.2% decrease in April.
