Malaysia Targets Asian Steel with Temporary Tariffs

Malaysia has announced the imposition of provisional anti-dumping duties on specific iron and steel imports from China, South Korea, and Vietnam, ranging between 3.86% and 57.90%. This decision was disclosed by the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry on Saturday. The duties pertain to imports of galvanized iron or steel coils and sheets, stemming from a preliminary investigation initiated on February 6. According to the ministry, there is ample evidence indicating dumping activities concerning these imports, warranting the continuation of the investigation. The provisional duties are set to commence on Monday, July 7, potentially extending up to 120 days, with a conclusive determination anticipated by November 3.
