In May 2025, the unemployment rate in the Philippines was steady at 3.9%, the same as the previous year. The number of unemployed individuals declined to 2.03 million from 2.11 million in May 2024, while employment figures rose to 96.1 million from 95.9 million. The services sector continued to dominate employment, comprising 61.8% of the total workforce, with agriculture and industry following at 21.1% and 17.1% respectively. Additionally, the labor force participation rate increased to 65.8%, up from 64.8% the previous year. On average, employed individuals worked 39.8 hours per week, slightly less than the 40.6 hours recorded in May 2024.
