In May 2025, Swedish industry experienced a 2.4% decrease in total orders compared to the same month in the previous year. This decline follows an upwardly revised increase of 7.4% in the preceding month and represents the first drop since October of the prior year. The decrease in orders was due to a reduction in both international orders, which fell by 0.5% from April's 8.8% increase, and a significant dip in domestic demand, which declined by 5.7% after a 5.4% rise in April. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, new orders decreased by 1.4% in May, which is a slower decline compared to the 6.5% drop observed in the previous period.
