Sweden Industrial Output Growth Slows in May

In May 2025, industrial production in Sweden experienced a 5% increase compared to the same month the previous year. This growth, although positive, was slightly less than the revised figure of 5.3% recorded in April. The data indicated the second successive month of industrial growth, albeit at a reduced rate, primarily due to a decline in output for mining and quarrying, which fell by 0.8% compared to an 8.9% rise in April. In addition, there was a further decrease in production for electricity, gas, steam, and hot water sectors, which dropped by 3.4% following a 0.9% decline. Conversely, the manufacturing sector showed an accelerated increase in activity, rising by 5.2%, up from 5% in the previous month. On a month-to-month basis, industrial production rose by 0.6% in May, a slowdown from the 3.3% growth seen in the prior month.
