Moldova Inflation Rate Rises to 3-Month High

Moldova experienced an uptick in its annual inflation rate, reaching 8.2% in June 2025, up from 7.9% in May. This represents the highest inflation rate since March, primarily due to a swift rise in food prices, which have escalated to a peak not seen in over two years, now at 10% compared to 9.7% the previous month. This increase was notably driven by the cost of vegetables and fruits. Additionally, the inflation rate for services rose slightly to 14.6% from 14.5%, with significant contributions from rising costs in communal & housing and medical services. Meanwhile, the price increase for non-food items also accelerated, registering at 2%, up from 1.8% in the month prior. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.2% in June, marking the slowest monthly rise in four months and down from the previous 0.4% growth.
