In May 2025, Bulgaria experienced a 6.6% year-on-year decline in industrial production, an improvement from the revised 9.8% drop noted in April. Manufacturing output decreased at a less severe rate, slipping by 2% compared to the 7.3% fall the previous month. Notably, the mining and quarrying sector exhibited significant recovery, with production rising by 8.4% following a 3.7% drop. Conversely, the electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply sector encountered a sharp contraction of 26.6%, worsening from the 12% decline in April. On a seasonally adjusted basis, monthly industrial activity increased by 0.5%, marking a slowdown from the previously revised 1.7% increase.
