In June 2025, Ireland experienced a slight increase in its annual inflation rate, rising to 1.8% from 1.7% in the preceding month. This increase was largely propelled by more rapid price hikes in sectors such as food and non-alcoholic beverages, which saw an increase to 4.6% from May's 4.0%, as well as in recreation and culture (3.5% up from 2.4%) and communications (up to 1.8% from 1.1%). However, these advances were somewhat tempered by a slowdown in inflationary pressures in restaurants and hotels (which eased from 2.8% to 2.4%), housing and utilities (from 2.0% to 1.9%), and miscellaneous goods and services (from 2.4% to 2.2%). Additionally, there was a more pronounced decline in the prices of clothing and footwear, dropping to -2.3% from -1.9%. Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, saw a modest increase to 2.0% but remained relatively moderate. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices increased by 0.5% in June, following no change in May.
