Spain experienced a rise in its annual inflation rate, reaching 2.3% in June 2025. This figure slightly exceeded the initial projection of 2.2%, interrupting a three-month trend of decreasing rates. The increase was driven by intensified upward pressure on housing and utilities, which saw a growth of 4.2% compared to 3.8% in May, and a rise in food and beverage prices to 2.8% from 2.5%. Additionally, there was a less pronounced decline in transport costs, with a decrease of 0.8% as opposed to 2.0% previously. The core inflation rate, which excludes volatile components like food and energy, remained steady at 2.2% in June, consistent with the previous month and affirming the initial estimate. In terms of the EU-harmonised Consumer Price Index (CPI), there was a yearly increase of 2.3%, surpassing the early estimate of 2.2%, and a monthly rise of 0.7%, which was also higher than the anticipated 0.6%. On a monthly scale, consumer prices rose by 0.7% in June, which was slightly above the early estimate of 0.6% and marked an acceleration from the 0.1% growth observed in May.
