Baltic Dry Index Advances for 4th Day

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, an indicator tracking shipping rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, experienced a rise for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday, increasing by approximately 4.7% to reach a new peak since June 18, at 1,866 points. This ascent was fueled by gains across all vessel segments. Specifically, the capesize index, which generally carries 150,000-ton shipments like iron ore and coal, climbed 7% to 2,533 points. Similarly, the panamax index, typically handling cargos of 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, increased by 2.1% to 1,990 points, marking its ninth successive day of growth. Meanwhile, among smaller ships, the supramax index rose by 3.5% to 1,287 points.
