The capesize index, which is responsible for transporting large cargoes typically around 150,000 tons, such as iron ore and coal, saw a notable increase of 9.1%, ascending to a five-week high of 3,339. Conversely, the panamax index—often associated with transporting 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain—experienced a slight decline, decreasing by 0.2% to settle at 1,905. Meanwhile, in the category of smaller vessels, the supramax index witnessed a decrease of 1.2%, landing at 1,313.
