Australia Job Ads Fall in July

In July 2025, the ANZ-Indeed Australian Job Ads index saw a 1.0% month-on-month decrease, a reversal from the previous month's downward revision of a 1.6% rise. This represents the fourth decline observed this year and marks the most significant monthly decrease since February, indicating a gradual easing in labor market conditions. The education and retail sectors contributed to the decrease, partially negating the gains made in the previous month. Despite this, ANZ economist Aaron Luk stated, "The elevated levels in our job ads series imply that a substantial loosening of the labor market is unlikely." The series has remained within the narrow range of 114–117, remaining relatively stable since mid-2024. On an annual basis, job ads increased by a mere 0.1% but still stand 14.4% above pre-pandemic levels.
