Rwanda experienced a reduction in overall inflation to 7.2% in July 2025, marking the first decline in five months from the previous rate of 8.3% in June—the highest since November 2023. This decrease also represented the lowest rate since April, primarily attributed to a substantial slowdown in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which increased at their slowest rate in four months (6.5% compared to 10.7% in June), largely due to a significant reduction in vegetable prices (-2.0% compared to 4.3%). Moreover, inflation showed signs of easing in housing (2.3% down from 2.6%) and clothing and footwear (6.2% down from 6.6%). However, inflation rates escalated in several sectors, including transport (5.6% up from 3.6%), restaurants and hotels (17.6% up from 15.9%), communications (17.6% up from 17.2%), and alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and narcotics (11.0% up from 8.8%). On a monthly scale, consumer prices witnessed a decline of 0.6% in July, marking the first monthly drop in six months, after remaining unchanged in June.
