German Current Account Surplus Widens in June

In June 2025, Germany's current account surplus expanded significantly to 18.6 billion euros, up from 7.5 billion euros in May. The surplus in goods increased slightly to 15.4 billion euros from 15 billion euros, while the primary income account shifted positively, recording a notable surplus of 15.2 billion euros compared to a previous deficit of 1.2 billion euros. Meanwhile, the services surplus grew to 7.1 billion euros, an increase from 5 billion euros. However, the secondary income deficit also rose, reaching 4.9 billion euros from 1.3 billion euros. Reflecting on the first six months of the year, the overall current account surplus decreased to 119.4 billion euros from 144.3 billion euros during the same time frame in 2024.
