Tunisia Q2 GDP Annual Growth Rate Strongest in Near 3 Years

In the second quarter of 2025, Tunisia experienced a year-on-year GDP growth of 3.2%, marking the most robust expansion since the third quarter of 2022 and an acceleration from a 1.6% growth rate in the first quarter, which had been the most sluggish in three quarters. The economy's improvement was propelled by enhanced performances across several vital sectors. The mining sector notably soared with a 39.5% increase compared to the previous 17.6%, construction advanced by 9.6% up from 3.0%, and agriculture and fishing grew by 9.8%, improving from 7.3%. Additionally, the trade and repair services sector expanded by 2.8%, an increase from 1.9%. Significant recoveries were observed in the chemical industry, which grew by 10.1% following a decline of 3.9%, and the production and distribution of gas, which rose by 3.4% from a previous contraction of 0.1%. On a quarterly basis, GDP increased by 1.8% in Q2, bouncing back from a revised 0.1% decline in Q1 and representing the strongest quarterly growth since the fourth quarter of 2021.
