In June 2025, Bulgaria experienced a significant rise in its current account surplus, reaching €208.1 million, up from €74.1 million in the same month the previous year. This positive shift follows a nine-month streak of deficits. The primary driver behind this improvement was the services sector, with its surplus climbing to €954.6 million compared to €662.7 million in June 2024. Additionally, the primary income deficit showed improvement, narrowing to €404.8 million from €614.4 million. However, it wasn’t all positive news; the goods trade deficit expanded considerably to €422 million from €203.5 million, and the secondary income surplus, which encompasses remittances and various current transfers, decreased to €80.2 million from €96.9 million.
