China Prolongs EU Dairy Probe to 2026

China has announced a six-month extension on its anti-subsidy investigation into dairy imports from the European Union, now set to conclude by February 21, 2026. This inquiry, covering EU products such as cheese, milk, and cream, began amid heightened trade tensions following the EU's 2023 examination of China-produced electric vehicles. In a move perceived as retaliatory, China has started its own investigations into EU products like brandy, pork, and dairy. The Ministry of Commerce attributed the extension to the "complexity of the case." Previously, Beijing extended its anti-dumping investigation into EU pork and placed tariffs on brandy imports, but exempted major cognac producers who complied with minimum pricing standards.
