In July 2025, retail sales in Norway experienced a 0.6% increase month-over-month, building on an upwardly revised 0.1% rise from the previous month. This represents the fifth consecutive month of retail growth, primarily attributed to a resurgence in sales at non-specialised stores, which saw a 1.6% increase following a 0.7% decline in June. Additionally, sales of food and beverages, ICT equipment, and other goods improved, with respective growth rates of 1.3% versus a 0.3% decrease, and 1.2% compared to a 0.5% drop in the prior month. Conversely, automotive fuel sales fell by 0.6% after a 0.9% rise, cultural and recreational goods dropped 2.6% against a 1.7% increase, and sales not in stores or stalls declined by 1.7%, following a 3.9% growth. On an annual basis, retail activity advanced by 5.1% in July, marking the strongest performance since May 2021 and building on a 4.3% gain from the previous period.
