European Markets Set for Higher Open

European stocks were poised for a modest opening rise on Thursday as investors considered the implications of global trade tariffs. Late Wednesday, President Donald Trump called on the US Supreme Court to promptly review an appeal against a lower court's decision, which had declared the majority of his tariffs unlawful. Trump cautioned that the United States might need to renegotiate trade agreements with the European Union, Japan, South Korea, and others if the ruling stands. Investors will also pay attention to the latest Eurozone retail sales data, although the regional earnings calendar remains sparse. In premarket trading, futures for both the Euro Stoxx 50 and Stoxx 600 edged up approximately 0.05%.
