Switzerland Jobless Rate Highest in 4 Months

In August 2025, Switzerland’s unemployment rate, not seasonally adjusted, increased slightly to 2.8%, up from 2.7% over the previous three months—a period that represented the lowest rate since November 2024. This rise led to the highest unemployment rate recorded since April, with the number of unemployed individuals climbing by 3,000 from the previous month, reaching a five-month peak of 132,100. Similarly, the unemployment rate for young job seekers aged 15 to 24 rose to 3.2% from 2.7%, marking its highest level since March 2021, as the number of unemployed youth went up by 2,200 to 13,700. Furthermore, the number of reported job vacancies decreased by 1,900, totaling 37,900. When adjusted for seasonal variations, the unemployment rate remained consistent at 2.9%.
