Malta Industrial Output Slows to 3-Month Low

In July 2025, Malta's industrial production experienced an increase of 4.0% compared to the same month the previous year, a slight deceleration from the revised 6.4% growth observed in June. Production for intermediate goods saw a modest reduction, rising by 5.7% compared to 6.4% in the prior month. Likewise, production of consumer non-durable goods experienced a downturn, declining by 1.5% following a 1.0% increase. Conversely, there was notable growth in the production of capital goods, which surged by 16.5% up from 15.9%. The energy sector also saw an uptick, with a 5.0% increase from 3.6%. Additionally, consumer goods production rose slightly by 0.8% in contrast to 0.5% previously, while a dramatic rebound occurred in consumer durable goods production, soaring by 25.5% after a 1.6% decline. However, on a seasonally adjusted basis, monthly industrial activity decreased by 4.7% in July, showing a reversal from the revised 1.9% increase in the previous period.
