Rwanda Inflation Rate Softens to 5-Month Low

In August 2025, Rwanda experienced a further decline in its overall inflation rate for the second month in a row, reaching its lowest point in five months at 6.4%, down from 7.2% in July. This reduction in price growth was largely attributed to sectors such as food and non-alcoholic beverages, which saw inflation decrease to 5% from 6.5% in July; restaurants and hotels, which recorded a decline from 17.6% to 16.8%; transportation, slightly falling to 5.5% from 5.6%; and housing and utilities, which dropped to 1.9% from 2.3%. On a monthly scale, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed an increase of 0.7% in August, following a 0.6% decline the previous month.
