Taiwan Jobless Rate Rises to 4-Month High

In August 2025, Taiwan recorded an increase in its seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, reaching 3.35%, a slight rise from the previous month's 24-year low of 3.33%. This level is the highest since April, as the number of unemployed individuals grew by 3,000 to a total of 403,000, while employment also rose by 3,000, bringing the number of employed to 11.631 million. Notably, the unemployment rate among young people aged 20 to 24 escalated to 12.08%, the highest in eleven months, up from 11.91% the previous month. Additionally, the labor force participation rate increased to 59.58% in August, reaching its peak since 1990, compared to 59.51% in the previous period.
