In August 2025, Poland experienced a 3.1% increase in retail sales compared to the same period the previous year, marking a slowdown from July's 4.8% rise and falling short of market predictions, which anticipated a 3.3% growth. The deceleration was particularly notable in the sectors of furniture, radio, television, and household appliances, which increased by 13.9% compared to July's 15.3%. Similarly, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and orthopedic equipment saw reduced growth, advancing by 3.3% in contrast to the 4.9% growth in July, and the automotive sector, including motor vehicles, motorcycles, and parts, recorded a 9.4% increase, down from July's 10.7%. In addition, sales in newspapers, books, and specialized stores declined by 2% after a 3% rise previously, and the food, beverages, and tobacco sector saw a further decrease of 3.4%, following a 0.4% decline in July. Conversely, there was accelerated growth in sales of textiles, clothing, and footwear, jumping to 18.9% from July’s 14.7%, as well as in solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels, which rose by 6.1% compared to the previous month's 0.7%. On a monthly basis, retail sales in August fell by 0.4%, a reversal from the 4.4% growth observed in July.
